Gaivotão-branco / Glaucous Gull / Larus hyperboreus

O Gaivotão-branco é uma das maiores gaivotas europeias. É essencialmente uma ave invernante na Europa e, tal como outras aves de latitudes elevadas, esta gaivota caracteriza-se pelos tons muito claros da sua plumagem (no caso da foto estamos perante um 1º inverno). Como Portugal se situa muito a sul da zona normal de invernada desta espécie, é acidental na Península-Ibérica.

The Iceland Gull is one of the largest European Gulls. It is essencially a winterer Gull in Europe and, as others birds of high altitudes, this Gull is characterized by very light shades of their plumage (in the case of the photo we have a 1nd winter). As Portugal is well south of normal wintering area of this species, is accidental in Iberian Peninsula.
